How the round is built

  • Four par 5s, five par 3s. The scorecard puts par 5s at 1, 9, 10 and 16 and par 3s at 3, 7, 11, 15 and 17. The front nine opens and closes with a par 5 and has two par 3s; the back nine has two par 5s and three par 3s, which is where its one stroke less comes from.
  • The hard holes. On the handicap ranking, the 4th is the hardest hole, the 13th second and the 8th third. All three are long par 4s: from the Blue tees they play 430, 425 and 450 yards.
  • The opener. The club describes the 1st as a dogleg-right par 5 from an elevated tee: 590 yards from the Black tees, 550 from the Blue.
  • The 8th. The club calls it one of the most challenging par 4s in the state; it is the longest par 4 on the card from every tee but the Red.
  • The 17th. The club’s signature hole is a par 3 looking over the Chestatee River just before it meets Lake Lanier.
