Playing from the right tees is the quickest way to enjoy a course. The PGA of America and the USGA built a simple rule of thumb for it, Tee It Forward: match the course length to how far you really drive the ball. This tool does that for Chestatee’s five tees and adds your Course Handicap from each.

Which tees should you play at Chestatee?
Pick your usual drive and, if you have one, type your Handicap Index. The chooser lines your drive up with the PGA of America and USGA “Tee It Forward” lengths, shows where each of Chestatee’s five tees falls, and works out your Course Handicap from each tee with the USGA formula.

How the chooser works
- Your drive sets a range. Tee It Forward pairs, for example, a 250-yard drive with 6,200 to 6,400 yards and a 225-yard drive with 5,800 to 6,000.
- Each tee is placed against it. Chestatee’s five tees are 6,877, 6,475, 6,065, 5,597 and 4,947 yards. The tee closest to the middle of your range is marked as the best fit; the others say how far over or under they are.
- Your Course Handicap follows the USGA formula. Handicap Index × (Slope Rating ÷ 113) + (Course Rating − par), with par 71 and the ratings and slopes GolfNow lists. The USGA rounds it to the nearest whole number for net double bogey, and the highest Handicap Index is 54.0.
What the ranges say about Chestatee
- A 275-yard driver lands in the 6,700-6,900 range: the Black tees, at 6,877, sit inside it.
- A 250-yard driver’s range tops out at 6,400, so the Blue tees (6,475) play 75 yards long; the White tees (6,065) play 135 short.
- A 225-yard driver’s range is 5,800-6,000: the White tees are 65 yards over it.
- A 200-yard driver’s range is 5,200-5,400: the Gold tees (5,597) are the closest, about 200 yards over.
- Below that, the Red tees (4,947) are the shortest on the card. Ask the pro shop about forward-tee options.
Numbers are only half of it: the club describes the 1st and the 8th as demanding holes, so look at the hole-by-hole guide too. To play, book through the club’s Teesnap page.
